Tom Gilvear - Chairman

I joined Shopmobility Basingstoke as a volunteer after taking early retirement from the Materials Handling industry in 2008. Wanting to occupy my spare time I felt I had something to offer with my experience of electric vehicles. I soon became aware of how important this facility was to those with mobility issues, and became more involved in the day to day running of Shopmobility. Within a few years I became a Trustee, and soon after that invited to become Chairman. Although all these roles are voluntary and unpaid, I enjoy working with a great team, and meeting so many customers, who despite their lack of mobility, always seem to have a smile on their face.

I really do have the best of both worlds – working with nice people, meeting such nice people, and assisting those in need.
